12 Ups & 2 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (13 Aug)

4. Big Dogs & Revelations

SmackDown's closing scene was short and sweet. The rampaging Roman Reigns arrived in Daniel Bryan and Rowan's locker-room, looking for answers. Bryan demanded an apology, as Reigns had done for Samoa Joe last week, though 'The Big Dog' wasn't budging. This led to Daniel saying that he'd been conducting his own investigation into what's going on and had identified the culprit, though they weren't going to reveal anything until next week.

Fin.

Determining whether a cliffhanger was successful or not was simple: if it made you want to tune in next week to find out what happens, it worked. That was the case here, emphatically.

Scaffolding angle aside, this whodunit has been extremely well done. It may yet lead to the Bryan vs. Reigns dream match that was originally reported for SummerSlam. That's a bout worth waiting for, and discovering who was really behind Roman's recent attacks is a big hook for next week's show.
