12 Ups And 16 Downs For WWE In 2018

5. Boring Corbin

Aside from a couple brief flashes of decency, it’s safe to call the Baron Corbin experiment an abject failure.

Corbin came over to Raw after being a failed Money in the Bank contract holder and a lackluster United States Champion, and somehow he found his way into a role where he was on camera even more as GM Kurt Angle’s foil, the “constable” of Raw. Nevermind that the term constable was misused and stupid to begin with, but then he became acting GM and “GM-elect” – without a single vote being case in his name.

Stupidity of titles aside, Corbin was a black hole of suck on Raw, eating up valuable screen time that could have gone to any number of other superstars. He was in multiple in-ring and backstage segments each week, and then he suddenly was wrestling in the main event or prime top-of-the-hour slots.

Meanwhile, Raw stunk up the joint, and the ratings reflected it. Corbin has been the onscreen scapegoat for the abysmal performance of Raw in recent months, and while that’s unfair, his tenure has been a low point of WWE in 2018.
