12 Ups And 22 Downs For WWE In 2015

20. Bad Announcing

Much has been said during the past year about the lackluster €“ and even detrimental €“ commentary WWE announcers have contributed to the product this year. At times, the announcing has been so bad that hitting €œmute€ on the remote was a viable option. Not all of it is the announcers€™ fault. They are told through their headsets what to say, and a lot of times, you can pretty much figure out what mindless chatter is coming from higher-ups. But that doesn€™t fully excuse Michael Cole, JBL, Byron Saxton and Jerry Lawler from the crime of subtracting more from the product than adding to it. Saxton has no business being on Raw, period. Lawler is past his prime. Cole and JBL have their moments, but they are hampered by being forced to be corporate shills. There are better announcers in NXT right now, with Rich Brennan perfectly capable of calling matches. Corey Graves is rapidly turning into a solid color analyst. And the unused William Regal was stellar when he was in the booth and could easily take over on Raw. But alas, it looks like more Saxton for us. Yippee.
