Despite all the (justified) complaints about the Divas division in WWE this year, womens wrestling is in a better place now than where it was in April, when WWEs most popular female wrestler, AJ Lee, abruptly retired. AJ Lees retirement meant that one of the most interesting, dynamic and capable female performers on the roster was gone, leaving a void that hasnt been filled since. AJ on top of the division meant energetic, entertaining promos and competent matches. Whether she was influenced by her husband or just naturally had the same spark, AJ wasnt afraid to speak her mind, dropping the infamous Pipe Bombshell on Raw and calling out Stephanie McMahon on Twitter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=afedl8HylCY In her defense, AJ had accomplished everything she possibly could in WWE: three-time Divas champ, former GM and a major focus of WWE programming. There really wasnt much left for her to do other than collect title reigns and wait for NXT women like Charlotte, Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks to come up and put on solid matches with them. Sadly, all three were promoted to the main roster a few months after AJ left, leaving fans to wonder what if.
