12 Worst WWE Storylines Of The PG Era
7. The Burial Of The Nexus
It's painful to look back at, but the double-quick time in which the Nexus went from the hottest act in the company to being buried under a pile of chairs in 2010 will forever go down as one of the most confusing decisions in recent creative history.
The entire shebang isn't helped by the fingerprints of John Cena that were found all over the corpse of Wade Barrett and co.
From the moment the group arrived on RAW it was Big Match John that was the centre of their attention, all of which led to Barrett challenging Randy Orton for the WWE Championship at Survivor Series with Cena as guest referee. If Barrett didn't leave with the title, Cena would be fired.
Well, Barrett didn't leave with the title and Cena was indeed wished the best in his future endeavours. After getting the full goodbye treatment from the WWE roster, Cena decided that the best thing to do with all his free time was attend WWE events and jumped the barricade to attack the Nexus. Eventually the group grew tired of this criminal act, and implored Barrett to re-hire Cena.
Barrett did just that, and the two faced off in a Chairs Match at the TLC pay-per-view that December. Cena won the match and buried Barrett under 23 chairs. Yes, pun intended.
