12 Wrestlers Who Suffered The Most From WWE WrestleMania 36
3. John Cena
No other choice would have made a credible list-topper after what went down in the Firefly Fun House match.
That awesome spectacle was a complete and total deconstruction of John Cena's divisive pro-wrestling character, as 'The Fiend' Bray Wyatt and WWE tore away everything fans have hated about his meddling Hogan-esque persona. Everything from his explosive debut to the heel turn that never was was covered before Cena was felled, though the core message was the same throughout: John Cena, the character, has been a massive egomaniacal c*nt for a long, long time.
It leaves the 16-time World Champion in a strange place. Returning as a babyface should be impossible after such a thorough takedown and would mean completely no-selling what was many a viewer's favourite thing about WrestleMania 36. "'The Fiend' changes people," we're told, and Cena's change must be the greatest of all - if he is to come back at all.
There has never been a better springboard to that long-awaited heel turn, but is there even any point on John's current schedule? The guy only works a handful of dates every year now anyway.
