12 WWE Hall-Of-Famers Who Wrestled After Being Inducted
4. Jerry Lawler
Hall of Fame induction: 2007
It’s hard to believe, but Jerry “The King” Lawler is still wrestling in 2022 at the age of 72.
Lawler is that novelty act, that legend who was trotted out every so often to step from behind the commentary desk and compete in the ring, even after his 2007 induction. Depending on your perspective, it’s either admirable or kind of sad (on WWE’s part) that they ran The King out there so many times in the late 2000s.
In 2007, he feuded with King Booker and then Santino Marella. In 2008, he sparred with Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase Jr. He also had a few matches in 2009.
But in 2010-11, Lawler did something he never had done before in WWE: he competed for a world title. Specifically, he challenged the Miz for the WWE Championship twice over a three-month period from November to February (with a couple tag matches mixed in) as a filler feud before that dreadful WrestleMania 27.
The less that’s said about Lawler’s feud with Michael Cole, the better.
The King’s final run of WWE matches in 2012 saw him compete against Daniel Bryan and CM Punk, losing both bouts. A real-life heart attack that left Lawler clinically dead for nearly a half-hour ended his in-ring career with WWE, but Jerry has continued to compete for various independents, wrestling more than 75 matches between 2013 and last month.
