2. Sting’s Debut

It takes something special to outdo the debuts of the Rock, the Undertaker and the Shield, but in Sting’s first-ever outing on WWE television I think we have a worthy candidate.

Sting had of course spent 13 years away from the big leagues after opting to steer clear of WWE in light of WCW's demise. By this point, nobody really thought that we’d ever see the Icon in a WWE ring, given that he was now aged 55.

Those two factors on their own made his eventual appearance significant enough, but when you add in the circumstances under which the arrival came, you have an absolutely monumental moment.

Sting would emerge during the show-closing five-on-five elimination match, in which the Authority would be ousted from power if their team were unable to pick up the victory. Interference from Triple H had ensured such an eventuality looked unlikely, and that’s exactly why Sting decided to leave his own mark and even up the odds.

That ominous cry of the crow filled the arena, stopping everyone in their tracks, and the lights went out for full effect as the Stinger’s face was plastered on the screen. Moments later, the man himself was hitting the ring and after a lengthy staredown with Triple H, he nailed the Scorpion Death Drop before placing Dolph Ziggler on a limp Seth Rollins to hand Team Authority a crushing defeat.
