13 Things We Learned From Dark Side Of The Ring: Daffney

2. Her Father’s Powerful Statement

Shannon's father Quentin spoke to his daughter earlier that day on 1 September 2021, and he dearly wishes he'd had the chance to talk to her again. If so, then he believes he could've helped somehow and maybe even kept his little girl alive. You can feel all of Quentin's pain rushing through VICE's cameras towards you, and it's tough to sit through.

This grieving father will never stop thinking, 'What if?'.

Then, Quentin said one of the most affecting lines in the entire documentary: “I’d like to believe if she knew how much it hurt me, she wouldn’t have done it”. God only knows the pain he and everyone else must’ve been going through. That includes Shannon herself, clearly, but having to reconcile such the tragic death of a loved one and still go through things day to day has to be impossible for remaining family members and friends.

Quentin had a haunted look in his eyes throughout 'Dark Side Of The Ring'. How could he look any other way though? He's clearly a loving, present father who only ever wanted the best for his children. That comes across so many times during the hour-long show, and it's obvious he's still super-close to Darren.

Prepare to cry all over again come the end of the doc when Darren breaks down and speaks directly to the memory of his sister. They were really tight as siblings growing up, and Darren just wishes he'd been able to save Shannon from her pain.

Thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Spruill family. They've been through hell.
