13 Ups & 2 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling Knockouts Knockdown 2021
4. In Memory Of Daffney
Kimber Lee deserves our respect after this. As she was coated in the Su Yung-inspired facepaint, when she was cut open with some barbed wire by Alisha Edwards, it stood out against the white paint background blissfully, thus creating this superlative visual. Meanwhile, Jordynne Grace's Muscle Buster to her, which saw Lee's back connect with a pile of thumbtacks, was the spot of the match, being both impressive and gnarly all in one.
A hidden gem of this match was Savannah Evans, however. She's wrestled only a couple of times since her IMPACT debut, and while there's some obvious work still do to be done with her, she's got something about her. She suits this style of wrestling wonderfully. Her match-winning Full Nelson slam to Alisha was an effective winning manoeuvre, albeit more effective if it were done on the tacks, while her beefy boot to the head of Jordynne acted as a great way to essentially remove her from the remainder of the bout.
It was a solid match, but not quite amazing. Given the standard of previous knockouts Monster's Ball, there was an air of gruesomeness missing from this match. Other than Kimber Lee's half-crimson mask, it didn't feel like a Monster's Ball. It was still enjoyable, mind, but as a Street Fight rather than the advertised stipulation.
