7. Firefly Funhouse Match

Ah yes, the other cinematic match from WrestleMania 36.

While the Boneyard match was universally celebrated, the Firefly Funhouse match on night two of Mania was also a fun romp. Pitting Bray Wyatt against John Cena (in his first match in more than a year), the “match” was a series of vignettes as Wyatt deconstructed Cena. Bray’s funhouse puppets assisted in the segments recreating Cena’s WWE debut against Kurt Angle (with Bray playing the role of Kurt), a Saturday Night’s Main Event promo, Cena as the Doctor of Thugonomics, a classic nWo promo, Wyatt as a cult leader, and Cena and Bray’s WrestleMania 30 match.

There was really no “wrestling” during this contest, just a series of promos and Cena being unable to get his hands on Wyatt. Finally, the Fiend appeared, locked in the Mandible Claw, hit Sister Abigail and reapplied the Claw, finally downing Cena. And then John disappeared.

It was a very unique way to fit in a Cena appearance that allowed him to “compete” and lose without jeopardizing his film career.
