Well back in early 2006, Flair took on Edge for the WWE Championship in a tables, ladders and chairs match and despite WWE teasing that Flair might win when his fingertips brushed the title belt, it was never to be for the 16-time world champion. Once again, it is always advisable to be sceptical when a title defence occurs on Raw and with Edge set to defend his title against John Cena at the Royal Rumble, it was never going to be likely that Flair would defeat Edge so close to the pay-per-view.
