Whilst some folk may be angered by how often the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Championships change hands, these simply aren't traditional titles. NJPW runs a whole lot of 6-man matches throughout the year, and these titles add a little bit of spice to what was previously a drag throughout the year.

The titles were defended in a gauntlet match at Wrestle Kingdom 11, with EVIL, SANADA and BUSHI of Los Ingobernables de Japon coming out on top. The match was given time to breathe, avoiding the rushed pinfalls that usually plagues these sorts of matches. The first fall between Bullet Club and CHAOS was fun, although Jado eating the pin could be seen a mile away.

After LIdJ took care of Bullet Club fairly quickly, the trio took on champions Satoshi Kojima, Ricochet and David Finlay in the final fall. The final stretch of this match was simply glorious, Kojima rolling back a clock that simply doesn't exist whilst Ricochet continues to show that he is simply inhuman. Finlay looked great too, and 2017 is going to be a big year for him.

Los Ingobernables came out on top however, Kojima falling prey to a mist and EVIL. The titles change hands often but these titles should change hands often. The titles also represent SANADA's first in New Japan, and if that man fails to headline a Wrestle Kingdom in future then something is very wrong.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
