14 Ups & 1 Down From AEW Dynamite (20 Nov)

2. Inhuman Feats

Rey Fenix Nick Jackson
AEW

Of course Nick Jackson vs. Rey Fenix won't be for everyone, but it was never going to be. As if these two were going to come out and work a clinical mat-based exhibition or a Battlarts-esque shoot-style MMA simulation.

This was two of the most inventive high-fliers in the world pulling off the kind of feats that shouldn't be possible for mortal men to pull off. These flippydoos were flippity-doo-dah'ing for twelve minutes straight, resulting in a match that'll send staunch traditionalists to social media and comments sections to cry "gymnastics!" while delighting AEW's base.

Positively balletic at times, Jackson and Fenix used this stage as a blank canvas for inventive athleticism and artistry. The fluidity of movement and perfect execution held strong through springboard Destroyers rolled into Sharpshooters, rope walks, and avalanche 'Ranas, creating a breathless viewing experience to emphasise that this is a performance as much as it is a scripted sport.

Props to the announcers for putting over Fenix's advantage as the more seasoned singles wrestler, too. This was Nick's first one-on-one since 2015! A detail like that could easily go unnoticed, and its inclusion was a great little touch.
