11. Jushin Thunder Liger Vs. Yoshinobu Kanemaru Departure 2004
http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x72s1j_jushin-thunder-lyger-vs-yoshinobu-k_sport Imagine if a mid-2000s CM Punk squared off against Bret Hart in his prime. You would think that Punk wouldnt stand a chance, but during the match, not only would he keep getting up, but hed actually beat Hart in an astounding match. Thats what youd get with this match. Yoshinobu Kanemaru was that lower-card junior heavyweight wrestler who was facing the legendary Jushin Liger, undoubtedly the single most innovative cruiserweight wrestler of all time. The difference between these two is astounding, with Liger being famous for his international exploits as a fantastic wrestler, while Kanemaru was a NOAH guy trying to make a name for himself. Nevertheless, this match was astounding. It was built around the over-proud Liger showing no respect for Kanemaru, while the NOAH wrestler kept getting up after suffering from Ligers offense. Kanemaru kept showing his unbreakable determination, while Liger showed that even though he had made his career as a high-flyer, he proved just how versatile he is by using a lot of submission and power moves to dominate Kanemaru. This match is a highlight for fans because it shows the cooperative nature of Japanese wrestling promotions: youre more likely to find dream match combinations over there than anywhere else, because the wrestlers and the promoters care more about exciting match-ups than petty politics.
