15 Best WWE Debuts For NXT Stars

7. Sami Zayn

As tough as it is to rank Kalisto based on two months, it€™s even harder to place Sami Zayn after just one match. But Zayn€™s one match against John Cena basically cemented his future in WWE €“ even if that match led to him being injured and needing significant time off. Zayn has been built up in NXT as one of the developmental€™s brightest stars. He€™s an underdog with an incredible following and a stunning arsenal of moves. His feuds with Cesaro, Adrian Neville and Kevin Owens have made for some must-see television. So when Bret €œHitman€ Hart introduced Sami as John Cena€™s opponent in the United States Championship Open Challenge on Raw last month, fans in-the-know realized they were in for a great ride. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NoRyHiAUJnA As with many matches in Zayn€™s NXT career, he came up just short, but won over the crowd (although being that Raw was in his hometown of Montreal, it wasn€™t that hard). Reports surfaced later that the original plan to springboard Zayn to the main roster after this match, but the shoulder injury he suffered (during his entrance) has landed him on the injured list for the next several months. Still, Zayn clearly has been treated as a pretty big star and likely will once again be a featured player in WWE when his career resumes.
