15 Great Wrestlers Who Had Very Brief WWE Careers
2. Jerry Lynn
Nearly all of the wrestlers on this list, never came close to competing for a WWE championship, let alone winning one. But, that's exactly what Jerry Lynn did in his first ever match for the company.
Lynn had competed as a WWE enhancement talent in 1987, 1995 and 1998 but he got his big break in 2001 following the bankruptcy of ECW. He beat Crash Holly for the Light Heavyweight championship on an episode of Sunday Night Heat and that was basically all WWE had planned for him.
Whilst in ECW Lynn had proven himself to be one of the most talented and exciting wrestlers in the world, producing a series of great matches with Rob Van Dam. The duo did briefly reignite their rivalry on another episode of Heat but Lynn was never given the opportunity to show what he could do in the ring. He was released in February 2002.
This failure didn't deter Lynn, who continued his great career in TNA, ROH and a host of other promotions who truly valued his skills and ability in the wrestling ring. His 25 year career concluded in March 2013 and he now works as a producer for ROH.
