Considering the iconic status that Shawn Michaels holds today as the bible loving, industry loyal, family man, its easy to forget just what an unstable nightmare the show-stopper could be during the 1990s. There are thousands of examples of why Michaels was a wreck before getting clean and becoming a born again Christian, and he is more than willing to admit what a pain he could be when he was a diva. A lot of fans still think that the best example of Michaels instability and ego was the screw job, but in fairness to Michaels, Hart should have probably been dropping the belt that night as tradition dictated hometown show or not (although lets not get into this discussionagain). But the funniest and most demonstrative example of Michaels being an unstable egomaniac was when he proceeded to get the crap kicked out of him by a G.I at a bar in Syracuse one night in 1995. Obviously the years have made the rumours grow and we will never know the whole story. But basically from what we can gather from those who were there, the IC Champion Michaels hit on the wife of a G.I and wanted to take her to his hotel and understandably the G.I didnt take to kindly to this. Now obviously the details get blurred, but regardless of whether it was one guy, or a group of guys (HBK laughably claimed nine!), Michaels definitely got his ass kicked in public and then had to show up with a clearly beaten mug on TV. The WWE had to scramble for an explanation as to why one of their toughest guys was now showing up on TV having clearly been on the receiving end of treatment from someone much stronger in the general public. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2q61AVQ4OSY It was an embarrassing moment for all and just one of many examples of Michaels being an unstable nightmare at the height of his career.
