15 Things WWE Wants You To Forget About Vince McMahon

7. Vince McMahon's Illegitimate Son Is...Hornswoggle

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMRg683_BT0 "Things are looking up, Mr. McMahon. But not for you. For your son...Hornswoggle." A few months after the Benoit death put a black eye on WWE, Vince McMahon went back to the well by having another major storyline surrounding him. They built it up in the summer of 2007 because they had it in their minds that they wanted to do some big angle. They even had McMahon walk out to a limo in a scene similar to when the limo blew up, but that's not what happened this time. Instead, it was Jonathan Coachman walking up to him to inform him that there is another McMahon child out there. It was an illegitimate son (or a bastard if you will). The original intent for the storyline was to have Ken Kennedy revealed as McMahon's son. His last name "Kennedy" was Vince's middle name and management was high on Kennedy, so it made sense. The problem is Kennedy was suspended by WWE for being a part of a performance enhancing drug scandal and was suspended for 30 days because of it. Since Kennedy wasn't going to be rewarded with a monster push due to the PED suspension, they had to do something for the storyline. They ended up going with a joke finish with Hornswoggle announced as the legitimate son. Early in 2008, they tried to get out of the stupid angle by saying that Hornswoggle was really Finlay's son and that Finlay just did it as a prank on McMahon. It was a lame payoff to a storyline that actually could have worked out well in terms of pushing a wrestler to the top. Instead, they went the cheap joke route with Hornswoggle.
