15 Things You Didn't Know About WrestleMania (1995 - 2004)
2. WrestleMania XIX - Austin Was Hospitalized The Night Before
Prior to what would become the final match of his career, Stone Cold Steve Austin was hospitalized on the eve of WrestleMania XIX due to an irregular heart beat. Austin had recently returned to the WWF after his infamous walk-out a year prior after hearing he was scheduled to job to a young Brock Lesnar on free-TV with no build. When Austin and Vince McMahon settled their differences, Austin had been training hard to get into top physical shape in time for his WrestleMania XIX match with The Rock. Unfortunately, Austin was experiencing a combination of anxiety, dehydration, and exhaustion that made him think he was having a heart attack. Upon being taken to the hospital, Austin was given 5 bags of IV fluid in order to get him back to normality and then released. Austin would make it to the ring for his final encounter at Safeco Field without most fans knowing a thing, but the past 24 hours had been a whirlwind for The Bionic Redneck.
