15 Ups & 13 Downs For WWE In 2017
9. Poisoned Prodigal Son
A great in-ring performer he may be, but Jason Jordan as Kurt Angle's son has been a complete disaster from day one.
The big reveal was met with universal indifference from an audience who couldn't have cared less, and it soon became apparent that the former American Alpha man was being pushed way over his head. Lost without Chad Gable's ironically Angle-esque charisma, Jordan was routinely exposed on the microphone, and the indifference soon turned to disdain, as increasing volumes of jeers followed Jason wherever he went.
The 'Prodigal Son' gimmick hit its nadir during Jordan's rivalry with Elias, which presented the former SmackDown Tag Team Champion as a petulant, vegetable-lobbing child, though the preceding Miz mini-feud wasn't much better either.
On the plus side, Jason's recent TV bouts with the likes of Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins have been excellent, and WWE appear to be heading towards an overdue heel turn, which should end the drudgery once and for all. Jordan's viability as a singles act may already be dead, however.
