15 Wrestling Nightmares Somehow WORSE Than Imagined
6. Shawn Michaels Has The Worst Comeback
Around one year earlier, even the great Shawn Michaels was working horror shows in Saudi.
There was real skepticism when Triple H announced that HBK would be stepping back into the ring for one more match against Brothers Of Destruction duo Kane and The Undertaker at Crown Jewel 2018. Red flags were popping up all over the place that this was simply an irresistible pay day for the legend. Look, fair play for grabbing that cash, but the bout didn't do Shawn's legacy any favours, and he'd come to regret it.
He'd knocked back dream bouts vs. Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles previously despite huge fan interest, and now here he was waltzing back into action on an international jaunt which most fans viewed as an unnecessary creative evil that ruptured monthly booking merely to placate money men who barely even watched WWE weekly, if at all. How's that for a lengthy sentence?! Rant mode disengaged.
You know that's not true. There's too much to rant about when it comes to Michaels and Hunter going toe to toe with 'Taker and Kane. Trips tore his pec muscle minutes in, Kane's wig came flying off to add to the embarrassment, and everyone involved roundly agreed that it was a botch-filled nightmare of a match.
By prioritising cash exclusively over performance, Shawn had turned into everything his younger self would've hated. Fears that D-Generation X vs. Brothers Of Destruction couldn't possibly live up to the hype manifested into reality on 2 November 2018. It's probably far too late for Michaels to put this right with something better too.
At least he's running a tight ship on NXT behind the scenes!
