17 Greatest Roman Reigns WWE PPV Matches

8. The Shield vs. Evolution (Payback 2014)

While this is the lesser of the two Shield vs. Evolution bouts, it is still a worthy match that ranks fairly high on Reign's list of best Pay-Per-View matches. The Shield seemed to be in the early stages of a new chapter of the collective's career as they were full-on babyfaces at this point. They could have extended their group run for quite a while but it was not meant to be.

The match was slow to start as all 6 men treated this No-DQ match as a traditional tag team bout for about 10 minutes. Why not go into a full brawl immediately? Weapons would eventually be used as Reigns would have his vest removed to get beaten with Kendo sticks.

All members of The Shield scored a pinfall at the end of this elimination match, the final one going to Roman as he put away Triple H via spear.

Not only is this match interesting because it would be Batista's last match in WWE (so far) but this is also the last time The Shield would compete as a collective. The next night on Raw was the night that Reigns and Ambrose got betrayed by Seth Rollins.
