Rey Mysterio debuted in Paul Heyman's hardcore-centric promotion at the Gangsta's Paradise event in September 1995 in a match against long-time friend and travel-partner, Psicosis, also debuting in ECW that night. He was only 19 at the time and "like a little kid", excited to get to work on US TV. He remembers asking Paul Heyman if they had his permission to use a table.
