18 Most Underrated Storylines In WrestleMania History

15. "Macho Man" Randy Savage Vs. Crush - WrestleMania X

The story of Randy Savage and Crush is one of friendship gone bad. Portrayed as longtime friends, Savage and Crush were key babyfaces for WWE throughout the first half of 1993. Then the Kona, Hawaii native ran into Yokozuna, enduring a vicious beating and several Banzai Drops. After recovering from the rib injuries that put him out of action, Crush returned to Raw and immediately questioned where Savage was, why he did not intervene on behalf of his amigo. Frustrated and angry, he betrayed The Macho Man and aligned himself with the man who injured him in the first place, along with his manager Mr. Fuji. Okay, so that may lack logic, but stick with me here. From there, the two engaged in an intensely personal feud that captivated fans. One of the most underrated programs of its time, the two men brought an aggression not seen elsewhere on the card. Where Yokozuna and Lex Luger were sleepwalking their way through a feud straight out of 1979, and Bret Hart was reluctant to wrestle his brother Owen, Savage and Crush were brawling whenever the opportunity to do so arose. The climax of their feud was a Falls Count Anywhere match at WrestleMania X in New York City's historic Madison Square Garden. Savage would win the match in the most ridiculous of ways, tying Crush up to prevent him from making it back to the squared circle before the referee counted to 10, but the match itself was infinitely better than most predicted it would be. When all was said and done, the Savage-Crush program was a major key to the success of WrestleMania X overall, a show that improved greatly on its predecessor and showed that Savage was an all-time great with a lot left in the tank. Regardless of his age.
