2. But…But He Signed The Original Contract?

How in the name of kilts did they miss this?!

Drew McIntyre said he wouldn’t sign the contract for his WWE Title shot vs. Cody Rhodes at SNME unless Cody agreed he’d lose the title if he got counted out or DQ’d. Rhodes said he was cool with it. GM Nick Aldis wasn’t, but Cody talked him into it. Then, after getting what he wanted all along, McIntyre signed his name on the contract. There's just one problem with that.

He put his name on the original contract without that added stipulation. Oh dear. Someone really should’ve thought of that before they hit the ring. If anything, Drew should’ve demanded another contract was drafted up before he'd put his name to it. In the end, after all of that, he inked the same piece of paper that confirmed a standard match with 'champion can't lose title via disqualification or countout' rules.

Credit where it's due. They really tried to put over the threat to Cody’s title with the DQ and countout stuff, but that stip will probs neuter the physicality of the match if they’re not careful. It'll be Triple H vs. Randy Orton from WrestleMania XXV all over again. Plus, the logic gap of McIntyre signing the first contract was hard to overlook. Maybe it doesn't matter and this guy is missing some legal loophole here.

McIntyre thumping Rhodes through a table with a powerbomb then posing with the title as SmackDown went off the air helped the segment, but yeah - it is hard to ignore the lack of logic in having him bitch and moan then sign the same contract anyway. Could be nothing to fret about, but minor details are important.
