2 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE SmackDown (Apr 3)

2. The Lack Of Momentum

There was nothing on this week's SmackDown to suggest that the biggest show(s) of the calendar year will happen this weekend. At times, it was like WWE were sleepwalking through things into a 'B' level pay-per-view, not WrestleMania, and that's pretty worrying.

As aforementioned, the circumstances are obviously sh*tty, but WWE must do more. Way more. SmackDown isn't even doing as good a job as Raw with the gritty, realistic promos. Recent weeks have become completely skippable, and that can't be pleasing execs at FOX who shelled out a ton of money.

They, and the fans, need WWE to pull it together.

Yes, it's going down in an empty training facility and excitement is harder to come by than normal, but this is still 'Mania. That brand is one of WWE's finest, and it comes armed with a sense of importance that should (in theory) be hard to screw up.

The lack of momentum is vexing.
