The 20 Best WWE Pro Wrestlers Of 2014

8. Cesaro

Last year placed 8 Despite losing creative steam in the second half of the year, Cesaro remains one of the very elite workers in WWE. For the first half of 2014, WWE were very much behind him. He had top notch matches against John Cena, Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton on WWE television, showcasing the fact that he was an in-ring maestro. The company then gave him the big win at WrestleMania 30, when he won the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal. He got a nice trophy and was paired with Paul Heyman as his manager... it should have been the key to the next step in main event appearances. However, WWE lost interest. Heyman was used more to promote Lesnar, and Cesaro became an afterthought. Eventually, the partnership was quitely dropped and Cesaro started having to make do with dark matches before PPV shows. The big kick in the teeth came in December, when WWE Chairman Vince McMahon said Cesaro didn't have "it", during the Austin / McMahon podcast on WWE Network. Regardeless, whenever Cesaro appears on WWE television, you know the action is going to be strong. He's very athletic and is as smooth as they come in the WWE ring. The matches he had at the start of the year, against Cena and Orton, were arguably the best WWE TV matches of 2014. He needs a proper creative push if he's to rise past 8 in this list, and unfortunately it appears that WWE have simply gave up on the Swiss Superman. Highlight of the year: Winning the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 30.
