To say Mickie James was an overzealous fan of Trish Stratus would be an understatement. She was obsessed with Stratus, to the point that she wanted to be the blonde bombshell.

If she could not be her, she wanted to be with her. When her advances were turned down, she snapped, descending into madness that culminated with a betrayal of her idol and the promise that her new obsession was the destruction of the future Hall of Famer.

After months of build, Mickie had her shot at the women's title and Stratus in one of the most anticipated matches of the WrestleMania 22 card. The challenger was maniacal in her attack, laughing at the pain and agony endured by her former friend. She targeted Stratus' knee, taking great pride in the damage she did to the limb.

Then, just as it looked like the champion may emerge triumphant, James dipped into her bag of mind games, grabbing hold of Stratus'...um, privates...and using the temporary distraction to her advantage. Using the Chick Kick perfected by the champion, Mickie scored the victory and her first title under the WWE umbrella.

The match featured epic storytelling that stayed true to the characters involved, something that cannot be said for every match on this list. A few more minutes and a finish not plagued by a significant botch may have landed this one in the top three.
