14. Matt Hardy Returns To Attack Edge - Raw (July 11th, 2005)
There are few returns in WWE history that ever felt as real as when Matt Hardy returned to WWE on the July 11, 2005 edition of Raw to get revenge on Edge for stealing away his girlfriend Lita. Matt was fired from WWE even though he did nothing wrong. Then they brought him back and his return was a surprise as he attacked Edge backstage and then in the ring later in the show. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JMPCfu7nu8w The crowd went wild for him at that show and in the months that followed because they had sympathy for the guy that lost his girlfriend to somebody that he considered a close friend. It wasn't a huge pop for a main event talent. It was for a guy that fans felt sorry for. It was genuine and in a business that prides itself on trying to generate real feelings and failing sometimes. At least on this night they got it right.
