2002 and 2003 weren't only about Kane electrocuting testicles and Triple H running everything of course. The roster was deeper than ever, and the quality from top to bottom was truly astounding. Eddie Guerrero, Chris Jericho, Chris Benoit, Edge, Christian, Kurt Angle, Rob Van Dam and many others were approaching their prime, and the midcard was theirs to light up.

The first and last names on that list collided in May 2002 to battle over the Intercontinental Championship, with the strap hung high above the ring. RAW and SmackDown had many fine ladder matches in this period, and this stands strong as one of the finest.

The Frog Splash masters put on an absolute clinic, grappling in the ring and brawling on the floor, keeping the crowd on the edge of their seat at every turn. RVD would come out on top, but both men benefited from this classic bout.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
