20 Wrestlers Who Stole A Living From WWE

16. Scott Steiner (Early 2000s Run)

Scott Steiner has earned a reputation among wrestling fans as a man with an explosive temper, disgust with Triple H, and the tendency to cut hilariously incomprehensible promos. That said, there was a time when Scott Steiner was one of the most interesting wrestlers in the United States, who put on great matches and really impressed the audience. That period was in the late 1980s and early 1990s, when Scott was teaming with his brother Rick. At the time, both he and his brother were successful amateur wrestlers, and this gimmick and technical background helped both of them become popular with the fans. As a singles wrestler, Steiner did not belong in WWE. While he did get a massive pop upon his return at Survivor Series 2002, that was the loudest reaction he ever got. Things went downhill very quickly for him, especially after putting on two terrible World Title matches against Triple H. While both men went into those matches injured, both men were also plagued by having too much muscle mass, and thus couldn€™t work at a better rate than they could earlier in their careers, especially Steiner. After five minutes of wrestling, Steiner was already out of gas, which spoke volumes of how much his body had changed (for the worse) since his first run in WWE. Unfortunately, Steiner simply couldn€™t cut it in WWE anymore. He was simply too big (and of course, allegations of steroid abuse didn€™t help his image that much, either), and he couldn€™t perform to the same standard when he needed to most. In the end, Steiner€™s time in the main event scene was a huge disappointment for everyone involved.
