At the Capitol Combat Pay-Per-View in May, 1990, Robocop made his WCW debut. For anyone who followed the Atlanta-based promotion for any length of time, statements such as that become typical. If fans thought WCW only started losing the plot towards the end of the promotion's life span, this particular moment disproves that theory. Looking to tie-in with the promotion of the Robocop 2 movie, those in charge of WCW had the machine man hybrid aid Sting in his battle against The Four Horsemen. Just when it looked like Sting was done for at the hands of the heel faction, being locked in a cage, the movie character marched out and helped him fend them off. During all of this, Jim Ross was forced to act as though it was a serious situation. Obviously, it was entirely ridiculous. Ripping the cage door clean off its hinges, Robocop and Sting then confronted The Horsemen, who suddenly weren't so keen on attacking. Movie promotion is one thing, but this was seriously corny.
