1. December - Raw Hits Rock Bottom

Vince McMahon Raw
WWE

For the 3 December episode, Raw's ratings plummeted to a record low for the fourth time in the space of twelve months. The usual excuses were trotted out to explain the drastic 2.29 million number emerging from Nielson, but for once, the company seemed to be taking the slump seriously, announcing that Vince McMahon would appear the night after TLC to 'shake things up'.

It was a typically short-sighted response. Baron Corbin was scapegoated for the wretched ratings - bizarrely acknowledged on screen - as the whole McMahon clan turned up to take charge. Naturally, the post TLC positioning ensured a numerical spike - at the same time, misguidedly justifying the McMahon-mania. Besides the reintroduction of four new authority figures, Raw continued in much the same vain.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
