Despite staying with the WWF, it was increasingly obvious that The Undertaker wasn't as motivated as he had previously been. He got fat and stopped working to the same standard. Many of his matches outright sucked between 2000 and 2002. It was as if he thought he was above the business. His piling on the weight in 2000 was one of the big factors in the early internet wrestling community turning on him. He was criticised for becoming a lazy veteran, who wasn't making the effort to keep up with the WWF's younger thrillers. Inevitably fans started to say that he'd developed an arrogance to the business. The embarrassing thing about it was that it was a full on beer belly. The fact he'd also stopped dyeing his hair, he ended up looking like the kind of shabby vagrant you might see at the local bar every day. The old Undertaker aura of super-stardom was non-existent. He just didn't care in the early millennium and it was as if he felt like he was big enough to get away with indifference. It is something that many fans have forgotten, and is part of Taker's legacy that others are happy to overlook.
