25 Best Moments Of WWE Monday Night RAW (Year-By-Year)
10. 2008: The Death Of Y2J
In 2007, Chris Jericho returned to Monday Night RAW after a two-year absence. Fans were happy to see him, but something felt missing. Years had passed, and he was still just regular ol' Y2J, not really coming across as the dynamic performer he once was. He needed something new to spark a creative fire, and thankfully, his hero Shawn Michaels was there with a match.
In the summer of 2008, Jericho got involved with the feud between HBK and Batista, serving as guest referee for one of their matches. Disgruntled with Shawn's underhanded tactics and receiving cheers from the fans despite them, Jericho brought Michaels out onto an episode of The Highlight Reel. From there, Jericho's affable facade faded, and after calling out Michaels as a hypocrite and a liar, he attacked the Heartbreak Kid and threw him into the JeriTron, shattering the screen. From there, Jericho would go on one the the best runs of his career as a malevolent, morose heel.
That run was sparked by this segment: truly one of the best heel turns of all time.
