Eva Marie was a pivotal part of the Total Divas cast, but she failed to win over WWE fans and was eventually released in the Summer of 2017. WWE's decision to rehire her in October 2020 then raised more eyebrows than The Rock during the Attitude Era. Everybody deserves a second chance, but when she reemerged in 2021, she was thrown into a storyline with Doudrop that was a disaster from the word go.

After a month of vignettes of Marie using cliched personal trainer language, working out, and promising an Eva-lution (seriously), the stage was set for her to take on Naomi in her second debut on the June 14th episode of Raw. Eva arrived with an unnamed partner (Piper Niven as Doudrop), who then dismantled Naomi for a pinfall victory. Marie took the microphone to declare herself the winner and that was essentially her new gimmick.

Eva was then forced to actually compete in a match against Alexa Bliss at SummerSlam. After losing the match, Doudrop took the mic to announce Eva as the loser of the match to turn on her. The two embarked on a short-lived feud before Eva was attacked by Shayna Baszler in September, written off TV, and released again in November. Her second run lasted just 5 months on camera.
