15. Sting Loses...And HHH Shakes His Hand
On paper, the result of Sting vs. Triple H seemed only slightly less predictable than The Undertaker going over Bray Wyatt, but Vince McMahon fielded out a huge swerve by having Trips scoop the win, with the help of his sledgehammer. Between the bookies and fans, pretty much nobody expected Sting to lose his debut match, and in fairness, it was a welcome shock from what could have been an extremely predictable match. Less assured was a truly bizarre post-match moment in which Triple H extended a hand to Sting, which he eventually shook. Given how HHH had spent the last few months trying to bury the WCW star and his legacy, it seemed disingenuous and didn't really make a lot of sense character-wise. Plus, it kinda undermined the moment later on when Trips came back out to the ring and continued to talk about how he "owned" Sting.
