3 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Dark (Jan 7)

2. Still The Man

Christopher Daniels
AEW

A quick interview with Alex Marvez saw Christopher Daniels touch on his first match back since the Pentagon botch incident, and Daniels owned it. He apologised to Marvez for overreacting when asked about it on a recent episode of Dynamite and, having thought about it, said that these things happen, wrestling is a contact sport, and mistakes get made.

"I'm not living in the past," Daniels said. "I'm gonna show I'm still ready, still the man, still the 'Fallen Angel, and I'm gonna go out there and get the job done."

Very simple stuff from the SoCal Uncensored veteran, but it succeeded in adding a neat story to what was effectively an exhibition match. Against The Hybrid 2 and Kip Sabian, Daniels was out to prove to the world that he isn't as cooked as was made out after the Pentagon botch and yeah, this isn't rocket science, but neither is more pro-wrestling storytelling.
