3 Ups & 4 Downs From AEW Rampage (Oct 27 - Results & Review)
2. Really Fun Trip
The story of Friday's main event was that Don Callis didn't think Kyle Fletcher was capable of being ruthless enough to succeed in wrestling. In fact, Callis actually told Kyle to quit the business completely and go do something else, because he doesn't have the stomach for it. This was deliberately done to sell Don's master manipulation gimmick.
He's mentally pulling Kyle to and fro on purpose, which is a neat story. Better yet, Fletcher delivered the goods during his match with Konosuke Takeshita, and he showed off a rising level of aggression the longer it went on. Meanwhile, on guest commentary, Callis liked what he was seeing out of the Aussie Open man.
Takeshita's knee finish looked terrific (Kyle sold that like a champ), and the post-match angle worked a treat too. There is a concern that Fletcher coming into the Family will dilute things too much and send Powerhouse Hobbs or Sammy Guevara into the background, but it'd be smart to give things a chance.
No more members after Kyle though. That should be the rule.
