3 Ups & 4 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Mar 6)

3. As Disposable As It Gets

The women's division's peripheral figures kept themselves busy last night. Much of this was based around Carmella vs. Becky Lynch, which was built through a quick YouTube segment last week. Their match was okay at best, with Becky forcing her opponent to tap after spending the bulk of the five-minute runtime on the back foot, prompting a post-match s***-fit from Carmella.

Though technically sound, it felt like a mailed in performance from a divisional standout and one of the group's most improved performers. Afterwards, we swung to a backstage argument between Natalya and Naomi, and out of nowhere, WWE have plucked an easy Fastlane booking: the heels vs. the faces.

The whole thing felt like an excuse to shoehorn another throwaway match onto the Fastlane cart, and thus, it felt throwaway itself. It's good that they're giving the women airtime away from the title feud, but how about doing something meaningful with them? The match will happen, Road Dogg will pick an arbitrary winner, and nobody will remember it a week later. Why bother?
