3 Ups & 4 Downs From Last Night's Impact Wrestling (May 3)

1. Next Challenger

After a heated promo exchange that kicked off the show, Johnny Impact, Pentagon Jr., and Michael Elgin headed into the main event of the evening with the same goal in mind - to walk back through the curtain as the #1 contender to Brian Cage's World Championship. To the shock of no-one, the match delivered.

There were some rather impressive spots throughout, with Elgin powerbombing Impact on the ring apron at one stage while Pentagon somehow mustered up the strength to hoist Big Mike up for a Pentagon Driver. After the masked lucha was laid out, it would be a stiff lariat and a match-ending Elgin Bomb that cemented Michael Elgin's status as the first in line for a championship match. At the time of writing, there's no word as to when that match will take place, seeing as we need to see when Cage will be fit to compete.

As controversial as Elgin may be, you can't take anything away from the fact that he and Cage will have a potential showstealer. Two big lads going head to head will appeal to a certain demographic of fans and seeing as they're both quite athletic for their size, that appeals to another demographic. It should be bloody brilliant when the time comes for it.
