3 Ups & 6 Downs From WWE SmackDown (July 28)

SmackDown hits some MAJOR speed bumps on WWE's road to SummerSlam 2023.

WWE's writers should be real thankful they've got that blood-pumping Roman Reigns vs. Jey Uso family drama to fall back on, because they're badly struggling to make the rest of SmackDown interesting. That isn't said lightly, by the way, but it's difficult to be positive about some of the booking on Friday nights right now.

For example, questions need asked about what the hell creative is thinking with LA Knight, and more hands need to go up during meetings about Asuka, Charlotte Flair, Bianca Belair, Austin Theory, Santos Escobar, Karrion Kross, AJ Styles and more. That, as you may have realised, is almost the entire midcard glut on Smackers.

Again then, thank God for The Bloodline. At least that angle gave fans some meat on the bone to enjoy during the penultimate episode of blue brand telly rolling into SummerSlam. Better yet, WWE managed to involve a former NXT star and elevate his standing on the show by letting him mix it with the biggest names.

Not a banner episode by any means then, but here's all the good and bad from it!
