3 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Nov 4)

Ups...

3. Asuka Is Amazing

Asuka is quickly becoming the best female wrestler in the entirety of WWE, and with the recent explosion of exceptional talent that the company has seen in the last few years, I do not say that lightly. She's the perfect storm of distinct and compelling character work and stiffly-legitimate technical acumen. Her moves look like they hurt, pure and simple. She's like the female Brock Lesnar, not in terms of body-mass, but rather that she is a fighter. Her strong-style knees to the head, her ability to turn a slap into a leaping arm-drag/armbar at frightening speed, she's one of the most authentic wrestlers of the roster. It's not hard to see why the crowd have taken to chanting "Asuka City, clap-clap, clap clap clap, Asuka City." She's also a great entertainer, let's not forget that. The look in her eyes demonstrates that she's fully-invested in her psychotic character and her impression of Cameron's Total Diva schtick was wonderful. Whether she makes it to the main roster, or if her purpose is simply to groom the next generation of women's wrestlers for the big time, Asuka is making a huge mark on mainstream wrestling right now.
