3 Ups And 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE NXT (Nov 4)
1. Main Event, Interrupted
I understand, NXT. I understand why you had to do it, but damn it if it doesn't sting. After all, what better way to send fans home happy than with a match-ruining run-in from the World's Most Popular Man, Baron Corbin? Last night, Captain Dead Eyes made his presence known right as the match between Balor and Crews was reaching its climactic conclusion, throwing a damp and slightly greasy towel on the whole affair. It's obvious that WWE is heavily invested in the hot talents of both Crews and Balor, but there is such a thing as looking strong in defeat. Thanks to this, Crews gets to remain undefeated in NXT, but it's unlikely that his momentum would've been quelled by a loss to someone as hugely over as Balor. There are upsides though. Crews is likely to springboard from this non-loss to a feud with Baron Corbin, from which he's doubtlessly going to emerge victorious, and Balor will go on to face Samoa Joe - more on that to follow. The lack of a definitive ending does also open the door for a fatal-fourway match between Joe, Crews, Balor and Corbin should NXT wish to go down that road. The DQ finish only hurts as much as it does because NXT is normally so good at booking definitive finishes to its matches. Ah well. That's a shame.
