This is a surprise.

Senior official Mike Chioda had been with WWE since 1989 (his first gig was at that year's Survivor Series pay-per-view) and had blossomed into part of the promotion's furniture. Look hard enough on WWE Network documentaries and you'll see Chioda refereeing, setting up the ring, conversing with talent around ringside and probably switching off the lights when everyone was done.

He's one of the most high-profile staff members to get released. This is living proof that WWE moves brutally, even when it comes to long-time employees. Of course, nobody knows the actual details behind Chioda's release yet. His shoot interview, if he ever gives one, could be very interesting.
