4 Ups & 10 Downs From WWE Raw (Oct 4)

9. Is She A Face? Is She A Heel?

You’re going to have to forgive this writer. As wonderful as Becky Lynch is and has been, it’s tough to understand and swallow this current iteration of her character.

Is she a cowardly heel? Is she a crowd favorite? Lynch has been playing the villainess on SmackDown since her return, but she played to the fans upon coming out, then they immediately pitted her against uber-heel Charlotte Flair, which made Big Time Becks the default face.

Look, having Lynch back on Raw is a definite positive, but this opening promo just kept Becky in a nebulous area where she does heelish things, but plays to the crowd to encourage the babyface response she’s built up over years of being awesome.

You can’t have it both ways, WWE. Ultimately, it’s going to lead to problems. For now, we’re flagging this as a mild “down” and warning sign, but overall, it’s great to see her on Monday nights again.
