4 Ups & 11 Downs From WWE Raw (Jan 11)

4. Riddle Torpedoed

After weeks of seemingly building Riddle up as a challenger to Bobby Lashley in what could have been a fun, hard-hitting and unique battle, it all fell apart in the last two weeks.

Last week, Riddle tapped out and then rolled up a confused Lashley when the referee didn’t see the tap. On Monday, we got a 2-minute special, with Lashley jumping Riddle before the bell and pummeling him, then beating the Original Bro clean in a United States Championship match. So much for Riddle’s push.

Hold on though, because Riddle then challenged MVP, which seemed like an opportunity to get some heat back. But no, Lashley simply speared him for a DQ and then the two beat him down and left him laying like a piece of trash.

This is not to say that Riddle should have won the US title here, but you had two former MMA fighters who were capable of having a different, fun kind of match. And on a show where we had the Jeff Hardy/Elias/Jaxson Ryker debacle, surely they could have given them 10 minutes to put on a real match.
