4 Ups & 2 Downs From AEW Rampage: Beach Break (Jan 28)

1. Anthony Bowens Steps Up

The Acclaimed Jon Moxley
AEW

The old phrase is, "It takes two to tango". Cliched? Definitely, but very fitting for the opening match on this week's Rampage. As switched on as Jon Moxley looks lately, even he couldn't produce the goods without a dance partner. Enter one Anthony Bowens, who is coming into his own as a singles.

Bowens had a hidden gem vs. Darby Allin at New Year's Smash (the Rampage version), and this was more of the same. Despite the clear lack of danger or threat that Ant was picking up the win over a hungry Mox, he still got enough in to leave with his head held high.

That was perfect.

Max Caster was the right kind of pest at ringside too. Both guys used him when they could, but didn't try to overbook their own match like so many others do. Moxley is at his best when he's fired up and has the numbers disadvantage like he did on Friday night.
