4 Ups & 3 Downs From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (April 18)

2. KO's Face Of America Open Challenge

Gary Gandy Kevin Owens

Regular viewers of SmackDown will have lamented the loss of The Miz to Monday Night Raw during the recent shakeup, but those same people should be rejoicing over the fact that Kevin Owens will now make his permanent residence on Tuesday evenings.

As strong a mic man as WWE have on the blue brand, the current WWE United States Champion is also someone who excels regardless of what he's written to do on television; not just any heel could make magic out of a squash match situation and cheesy anti-American character, and that must be remembered.

The 'Face Of America' Open Challenge segments already have potential on SmackDown, and they should carry KO through to his inevitable feud with a freshly-turned babyface AJ Styles after he surely defeats Chris Jericho at Payback.

WWE may have painted themselves into a corner with the 'Superstar Shakeup', but at least they're making the best of the situation by playing to KO's core strengths.
